Joyce Tang

PhD, Mst (Oxon), BMus, LRAM

I am a conservatoire-trained pianist and an early-career musicologist. Born in China, grew up in New Zealand, and now living in London, UK, I have been playing the piano since 3 years of age. Music has taken me around the world: performing in China, New Zealand, UK, Europe, and the US. Since 2016, I have been growing my reputation as an academic scholar, and am currently turning my thesis into a book.

As well as refining my skills in piano practice and music research, I have been teaching the piano for the past 11 years. I enjoy developing pianists and seeing students grow in character and love for music. Since obtaining my doctorate, I have been coaching students on music research skills. I aspire to become a great supervisor: one with big brains, and a bigger heart.
